With association boards back from summer holidays and scheduling their fall meetings, it is wise to review the antitrust laws that apply. There are at least 75 lawsuits that have been filed against airlines alleging collusion in holding down flying capacity in order to keep prices high. There are 4 big carriers under investigation: American, Delta, Southwest, and United.

While that situation is not an association, it should remind everyone to be very careful or risk large judgements, high legal fees and adverse publicity.
